Fort Washington State Park
Fort Washington State Park includes 3.5 miles of trails rated “more difficult.” The longest of the trails is the Green Ribbon Trail, a 2.5-mile tract that connects Militia Hill to the Flourtown Day Use area. The trail also extends out of the park, connecting with Fairmount Park’s Forbidden Drive in Chestnut Hill. The trails are also a favorite spot for cross-country skiing in winter.

The Wissahickon Trail, also known as the Green Ribbon Preserve Trail, will run from the Liberty Bell Trail in the North Penn area to Philadelphia’s Forbidden Drive Trail in the Fairmount Park System. The trail is currently an existing walking path that stretches along the Wissahickon Creek from Stenton Avenue in Whitemarsh Township to a point near Lansdale Borough.

Peter Wentz Farmstead
This English Georgian-style house was built reflecting the German heritage of Peter and Rosanna Wentz. In October of 1777, the Continental Army was marching toward Philadelphia. Washington and his troops stopped and made camp at the Wentz farm, with Washington using the stately farmhouse as his headquarters. During this time, plans were laid out for an attack on British forces outside of the city, now known as the Battle of Germantown.
