Trump Taps Montgomery Township’s Dr. Erwin Antoni to Head Bureau of Labor Statistics

Dr. Erwin Antoni, a Lansdale Catholic grad, is Trump’s pick to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics, pending Senate approval.

Lansdale Catholic alumnus Dr. Erwin Antoni III could soon be the nation’s top labor data official, writes Tony Di Domizio for The Reporter.

The Montgomery Township native has been nominated by President Trump to lead the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The BLS is part of the Department of Labor and produces critical reports on jobs, wages, and inflation. This data influences decisions made by policymakers and businesses. Antoni’s appointment requires Senate confirmation before he can assume the role.

Trump announces the nomination Monday on Truth Social, praising Antoni as a “highly respected economist.” The move followed Trump’s removal of Erika McEntarfer, whom the President accused of manipulating jobs data.

Antoni is currently the chief economist at The Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget. He has been a vocal critic of the BLS and its data methods.

His background includes a master’s degree in economics and a doctorate in fiscal policy and labor economics from Northern Illinois University.

If confirmed, Antoni will take on one of Washington’s most closely watched roles in measuring the health of the U.S. economy.
