North Wales resident Joseph Osborne created Mojoz Gummi Cone, a gummy cone for water ice that is vegan, halal, and gluten-free, writes Jadon George for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Osborne created the cone in 2015 while working as a sales representative for Comcast. A loyal patron of Jimmy’s Water Ice in South Philly, he would come home, fire up his gaming console, and start cycling through the game menus – but had to put down his controller every time he wanted a bite from the broad, flat cup water ice typically comes in.
“I thought, ‘You know, if I was eating an ice cream cone, I could get through these menus,’” said Osborne.
At first, Osborne considered making snackable cups that would resemble a watertight Jolly Rancher, but his wife, Maureen, suggested a gummy cone instead. They melted down a bag of Haribo bears and froze the mixture encased around a conical mold.
Today, Osborne is working on gummy cones full-time. He has business partners lined up for large-scale production and hopes to one day see his family invention on store shelves across the country.
