The owners of the Five Star Restaurant Group, the company behind the Chadds Ford Tavern, are hoping to take their popular tavern concept national with new franchises, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.
Philip and Kate Ferro have signed on with the Franchise Creator to launch a national brand that duplicates the success of their Chadds Ford Tavern, the Main Line Tavern in Paoli, Kings Tavern in Coatesville, and the Augustine Tavern in Delaware.
Franchise Creator actually approached Five Star several months ago with the franchise opportunity, according to Philip Ferro.
The Ferros decided to follow up with Franchise Creator as an efficient way to expand their tavern brand without having to run additional restaurants.
Five Star Restaurant Group has streamlined its restaurant model, making it easier to open in more locations, Ferro said.
“For the franchisee, it’s easy to replicate now since we’ve done it four times, and we have basically everything in place in terms of how we manage them and operate them,” Philip Ferro said.
The restaurant group is seeking owners with older standalone properties that can seat 200 people in need of a revamp and locations with “some character and charm” that feel like a tavern.
