The transformation of Bala Cynwyd’s retail corridor just hit a high point. Federal Realty Investment Trust and CBG Building Company have announced the “topping out” of the second residential phase at Bala Cynwyd on City Avenue, marking the completion of the building’s structural framework.
Located between Belmont Avenue and Conshohocken State Road, the $95 million mixed-use development sits on the former Lord & Taylor site and will include 217 residential units, 16,000 square feet of retail space, and a two-level parking garage. The project is a cornerstone of Federal Realty’s larger plan to breathe new life into the City Avenue corridor.
“Reaching the topping out stage for Bala Cynwyd on City Ave represents a pivotal achievement in our vision to transform this shopping center into a vibrant, mixed-use destination,” said Mark Brennan, VP of Regional Development at Federal Realty.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the LEED Gold-certified building will feature standout amenities like a rooftop patio with Center City views, an outdoor pool, grill stations, and a courtyard. A multi-use path will also connect the site to City Avenue and the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, further boosting community access.
Construction is slated for completion by summer 2026.
