Former Central Bucks School District Superintendent Abram Lucabaugh is poised to lead Centennial School District, writes Jo Ciavaglia for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The Centennial school board will vote on an employment contract for Lucabaugh during its regular May 27 meeting. A community forum to introduce Lucabaugh will be held on May 22 at the Log College Middle School auditorium. Residents can submit questions online for the prospective superintendent ahead of the event.
“Dr. Lucabaugh will receive a copy of all submitted questions,” stated the board. “The Board has chosen this format to ensure that the maximum number of questions can be asked by the moderator in the time allotted.”
If hired, Lucabaugh will replace current Superintendent Dr. Dana Bedden, who is leaving in August after five years.
Lucabaugh worked for the Central Bucks School District for 17 years. He was principal at Central Bucks East High School before becoming assistant superintendent in 2018. Three years later, he was formally appointed superintendent. During his tenure, he supported restricting library materials, trans-athlete bans, and partisan classroom displays.
The board members noted that the decision to hire Lucabaugh was not unanimous.
