Discover French Creek State Park, a hidden gem in Chester County offering year-round adventure, wildlife, and scenic beauty.

Pennsylvania is home to 124 state parks, but Chester County has a particular hidden gem, writes Kalena Thomhave for The Keystone.

French Creek State Park in Elverson was recently named one of the 8 underrated state parks throughout the commonwealth. As the largest state park in southeastern Pennsylvania, French Creek has many popular activities to enjoy. Across nearly 8,000 acres, park-goers can experience hiking, camping, biking, swimming, and more.

French Creek State Park will quickly become an oasis to all those who visit, captivating those who step into the park with its diverse landscape and wildlife. It is even designated as an “Important Bird Area” by the National Audubon Society and an “Important Mammal Area” designated by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The fun doesn’t stop during the winter. Visitors are able to experience ice fishing and skating, sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

There’s also a large camping area for those who want to stay overnight in nature. Cabins are available for rent. For our history buffs, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site is nearby.
