Lehigh Valley IronPigs Rebrand as ‘Tomato Pie’ with Help from Norristown’s Morabito Baking

Norristown's Morabito Baking and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs team up for a Philly-inspired “Tomato Pie” night full of flavor.

Norristown’s Morabito Baking Co. is helping the Lehigh Valley IronPigs cook up something special this season, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The bakery is the driving force behind the team’s latest alternate identity: the Lehigh Valley Tomato Pie. The Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate will don the saucy new persona on May 23 during their “Salute to Philly” night at Coca-Cola Park.

Known for its signature tomato pie—a thick-crusted, sauce-focused Philly favorite—Morabito will sponsor the themed game, offering slices at the park and showcasing branded merch like Tomato Pie hats and shirts. Fans can even snag a ticket-and-slice combo that lets them skip the concession lines.

Founded in 1932, Morabito’s roots run deep. The tomato pie started as a creative use for leftover dough, but it’s now a crowd favorite sold at major grocery chains. Ahead of the Eagles’ 2023 Super Bowl win, they sold 22,000 pies in five days.

The Tomato Pie identity is one of five fun alternates the IronPigs will roll out this season. Past rebrands have included everything from hoagies to Mummers. Meanwhile, Phillies affiliates in Reading and Jersey Shore are also joining the fun with flapjacks, luchadores, and Shine Barons.

It’s all about celebrating local flavor—with a side of fan excitement.
