Flakely Gluten Free bakery, known across the region for its network of “pastry ATMs,” is set to debut a new sweets dispenser in Ambler, writes Kristin Hunt for the Philly Voice.

The Manayunk shop’s machines offer a selection of croissants, cakes, bagels, and Danishes. The bakery currently has three locations, including one in Ardmore and another in its original neighborhood. The Ambler hub is expected to launch in the next several weeks.

Customers can access the smart freezers by tapping a credit card or  by using Apple Pay. Each treat is microchipped and automatically charged when it gets removed. The Pastry ATMs hold about 60 items, with the selections on offer rotating weekly based on the season and demand.

Flakely was founded by chef Lila Colello, who found herself unable to work with gluten after she was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2010. She focused on discovering alternative ingredients and developing recipes. She opened her bakery in 2021 to a great reception and growing regional demand.
