Main Line Health has appointed Ed Jimenez as its next president and CEO, effective June 6, writes Harold Brubaker for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
He will replace Jack Lynch, who is retiring after 20 years leading the four-hospital nonprofit system.
Jimenez, 53, comes from University Hospital in Newark, a medical center affiliated with Rutgers University, where he has served as CEO since 2023.
Previously, he spent eight years as CEO of UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Main Line Health praised his leadership, innovation, and commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Main Line Health is gradually recovering financially after several challenging years. The system posted an $8.9 million operating loss for the six months ending December 31, a marked improvement from its $39.5 million loss the prior year. Revenue for the first half of fiscal 2025 rose 10% to $1.28 billion.
The system operates Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital, and Riddle Hospital, along with several outpatient centers. In contrast, University Hospital reported $451 million in revenue last year but faced an $18.8 million loss, despite a $61.8 million state appropriation.
