Dermatology Partners has unveiled a new dermatopathology lab in Pottstown, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The company invested over $1 million in the facility to expand services and enhance skin cancer diagnostics. The 3,000-square-foot facility is 300% larger than the group’s previous lab located in a historic barn in Amity Township.
The Berks County-based practice expects the lab to process 100,000 specimens this year. Led by Dr. Orr Barak, the site employs 11 full-time staff, including four dermatopathologists, and supports over 60 medical providers.
Co-founder and COO Andrew Frankel said that the new expanded lab allows them to assist more patients. “We see this as another means to up our game,” said Frankel.
In addition to the lab, the group has renovated the second floor of its 2093 E. High Street location to accommodate its 20-person billing department. The Pottstown office is expected to grow to 45-50 full-time employees.
Founded in Birdsboro in 2012, Dermatology Partners now operates more than 30 clinics across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. The group manages back-office operations for dermatologists, providing staffing, electronic medical records, and HIPAA-compliant software for communication and record-keeping.
