An annual study moves King of Prussia traffic toward the top of the pile, writes Kyle Nguyen of the Philadelphia Business Journal.
In 2023, the suburb ranked at No. 23 across the United States and No. 142 worldwide, according to analytics firm Inrix. This is a dramatic change from 2022 when KOP ranked 191st in the nation and 852nd worldwide.
Inrix sources data from commercial fleets, taxis, deliveries drivers as well as sensors and cameras across the world. The data includes traffic congestion, time spent idling, and money lost to gas.
The report shows that drivers lost $918 in gas and 53 hours idling in traffic – up 23 percent from the year prior in King of Prussia traffic. KOP is the region’s third largest employment center after Center City and University City.
Inrix reports an average increase of traffic globally, year over year. “As the demand for vehicular travel continues to grow faster than the supply of roadway, traffic congestion and delay tend to grow,” Inrix said.
King of Prussia’s big brother, Philadelphia, ranked higher on the list. It ranked at No. 6 in the country and No. 13 worldwide, although this is down from 4th and 8th places respectively.
