Oreland Fan and Ten College Friends Celebrate a Decades-Long Eagles Tradition

Oreland's Jim Montgomery has been a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2001, along with ten of his college buddies.

Jim Montgomery, an Oreland resident, has been a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles since 2001, along with ten of his college buddies, writes Dave Uram for KYW Newsradio.

Montgomery is a dedicated fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, a passion he developed with his family growing up and now shares with his wife and kids.

He was the one who, inspired by the Eagles’ positive streak, led to the purchase of the group’s season tickets 24 years ago.

Montgomery recalled that at the time, there was no waiting list.

“I was like, ‘Well how many season tickets can I get?’ And they were like, ‘How many do you want?’” he said.

He and his friends got together and bought eleven seats. In the first season they watched together, the Eagles won their first NFC East title since 1988.

To this day, Montgomery collects the payments and distributes the tickets. This has become a way for the group of friends to stay in touch.

“And here we are, 24 years later, hanging out with some of the same guys from college,” said Montgomery. “It’s just a cool experience.”
