The Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theater Education Center secure more funding from PA’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The $500,000 grant will help transform the Highland Farm in Doylestown into a museum and education center dedicated to Hammerstein’s life and work. This follows a 2020 RACP grant that contributed to the property’s purchase.

“Preserving Highland Farm, the homestead and creative epicenter where Oscar Hammerstein II wrote the lyrics to some of the world’s most noted and performed songs, is essential for Bucks County, for Pennsylvania, and for our country,” said Greg Roth, board president.

Senator Steve Santarsiero praised the project, calling Highland Farm a community treasure. “I look forward to the museum and education center coming to fruition so future generations can appreciate the value of Hammerstein’s contributions to theater and our local history,” he said.

Rep. Tim Brennan, a former museum board member, emphasized the importance of cultural institutions like this. They enrich our lives and provide opportunities for lifelong learning for folks of all ages,” he said, encouraging further support.

The nonprofit is raising matching funds required to unlock the RACP grant. RACP funds regional projects with significant cultural, economic, and historical impact.
