Immaculata University Introduces New Undergraduate Degree in Business and Fashion
Immaculata University is expanding its fashion program with the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Business and Fashion degree. This new program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Classes begin in January 2025.
The program offers an industry-driven curriculum designed to equip students with both creative and analytical skills. By integrating fashion-focused courses with a robust business foundation, students will gain insights into the critical connections between design, merchandising, and marketing.
Core courses include Computer Applications for Fashion, Introduction to Product Development, Buying Principles and Practices, Technical Design in Adobe, Visual Merchandising, and History of Costume. These are complemented by essential business classes covering finance, accounting, marketing, and ethics and law. The 126-credit business and fashion major is offered alongside the established bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising.
“Fashion is a business, and today, the business is expanding rapidly,” said Lina Castro, Director of the fashion program at Immaculata. “We need more professionals who understand how to handle the interdisciplinary characteristics of a field that requires a background that balances the aesthetic aspects of fashion with practical business goals.”
Immaculata’s long tradition of graduating fashion majors has produced leaders within the industry. Graduates secured positions at QVC, Urban Outfitters, Burlington, Boscov’s, Lagos, The RealReal, eBay, Walmart, Jordache Corporate, Alice + Oliva, and many more.
