Pennyslvania’s Local Share Account Program Grants Much-Needed Face Lift to Montgomery County

Pennsylvania's Local Share Account program awards grants to Upper Pottsgrove, Lower Salford, and Douglass Townships for much needed projects.

Multiple projects in central and western Montgomery County have been awarded significant funding through Pennsylvania’s Local Share Account (LSA) program, writes The Reporter.

The funding was secured with the advocacy of Rep. Donna Scheuren and Sen. Tracy Pennycuick, to support key community and infrastructure projects.

Douglass Township will receive $527,854 for new municipal equipment and $278,558 for an asphalt paver to maintain roads and trails. Lower Salford Township has been granted $244,000 for streambank rehabilitation near the Mainland Treatment Plant. This aims to prevent erosion and support native landscaping. Upper Pottsgrove Township will use $71,891 to purchase a new police SUV, replacing a 14-year-old vehicle. Additionally, $400,000 will fund a new firetruck for Lower Frederick Fire Company. The current firetruck has been in service since 1999.

Scheuren expressed her enthusiasm for the funding. “Not only will it help one municipality with their heavy equipment needs, another with their environmental improvements and two more with upgrades to their emergency services, but all of the funding will go to enhancing the lives of their citizens,” she said.

The LSA program is supported by the PA Racehorse Development and Gaming Act. It allocates gaming revenue through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to projects serving public interests statewide.
