While Fishtown, Kensington, and Rittenhouse Square are known as Philadelphia’s dining hot spots, another neighborhood is emerging for such.

While Fishtown, Kensington, and Rittenhouse Square are known as Philadelphia’s dining hot spots, Queen Village is quickly emerging as the city’s newest food destination, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The neighborhood has recently added — or is about to add — around 30 new restaurants and food retailers. These newcomers offer a diverse range of cuisines and price points and include two ramen specialists, three Mexican restaurants, three Italian restaurants, Peruvian, Tunisian, Korean, Venezuelan.

In addition, there are Kazakh BYOBs, a chocolatier, a bakery and gelato shop, and a special-occasion restaurant hidden behind a door with a combination lock.

While some of them are just around a block outside Queen Village’s boundaries, they are integral parts of the neighborhood dining scene.

Recent additions include Adoro, opened by Albania-native Chef Florin Matranxhi, who honed his skills at Center City’s La Viola and La Verona. This low-key, white-tablecloth Italian BYOB offers reasonably priced classics, such as chicken parm and chicken marsala, both priced in the low $20s.

Another newly-added eatery is Jerk Fry City. The takeout shop, opened by Abbygale Bloomfield of Southwest Philadelphia’s Kingston 11, offers delicious Jamaican dishes such as jerk fried chicken, jerk cheesesteaks, and oxtail rasta pasta.
