On Sunday, Dec. 8, the Immaculata Symphony will perform their annual Christmas concert, A Classic Christmas, beginning at 3:00 PM in Immaculata’s Alumnae Hall. The Immaculata Symphony is a university-community organization, with a long and outstanding tradition that goes back to the University’s founding in 1920.
The Christmas concert features beloved classical melodies, audience sing-alongs, and festive Christmas favorites, including Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Overture to Hansel and Gretel,” Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Three Tchaikovsky Ballets,” J.S. Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze,” Georges Bizet’s “Farandole from L’Arlésienne,” and Leroy Anderson’s “Christmas Festival.”
Music Director Joseph Gehring, M.M. will be conducting the orchestra for this performance. Gehring is the Chair of the Immaculata University Music Department and serves as an Assistant Professor and Director of Ensembles. Gehring has been involved with the Immaculata Symphony since 2004 and was appointed music director in 2011. In addition to his role with Immaculata, he serves as the Music Director of the West Chester Band, a community concert band, and is a member of the Chesco Pops Orchestra. Gehring frequently directs various honor and festival bands throughout the Pennsylvania and Delaware area.
General admission to the Christmas concert is $10. Students and children are free. Tickets are available on the night of the event and online here.
