Wawa Comes Out on Top in First Customer Satisfaction Study
Customers who have been professing Wawa’s superiority for years – especially against Sheetz – turned out to be right, writes Stephanie Farr for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Delaware County-based convenience store chain has come out on top in the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s first Convenience Store Study, which was released earlier this week.
“We are grateful to our associates for making recognitions like this possible by continuing to deliver our purpose of fulfilling lives at our stores and we are also thankful to our amazing customers for allowing us to serve them and create meaningful connections inside and outside our stores,” said Wawa spokesperson Lori Bruce.
The study was based on email surveys of 5,710 randomly chosen customers. This is the first time that the ASCI, which measures customer satisfaction in 40 industries, has added the convenience store sector.
Customers were asked to rate convenience stores on a scale of 0 to 100.
Wawa received the highest customer satisfaction rating among major convenience stores with an overall score of 82. Sheetz, meanwhile, came fifth with a satisfaction rating of 79.
The entire convenience store industry received an overall score of 76.
