Cavan Sullivan Inks Major Endorsement Deal after Philadelphia Union Debut
Philadelphia Union midfielder and Norristown native Cavan Sullivan has signed an endorsement deal with clothing brand and retailer Aéropostale, writes Alex Silverman for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Fifteen-year-old Sullivan became the youngest athlete to play in a major North American professional team sport when he first made his Major League Soccer debut in July. He was 14 at the time.
In his debut campaign, the young star will promote a range of Aéropostale offerings, such as baggy jeans, a varsity jacket, quarter zip fleece, barn jacket, and graphic tees.
Sullivan is the first professional athlete to serve as an endorser for Aéropostale since it came under the ownership of SPARC Group, a partnership between Simon Property Group, a mall owner, and Authentic Brands Group.
According to a company spokesperson, the brand will focus on sports marketing in 2025. Aéropostale has over 1,000 stores in the United States, Mexico, Latin America, South America, and the Middle East.
The Union signed Sullivan in May to the largest homegrown contract in the history of the MLS. The four-year deal is worth about $500,000 annually. The teen will transfer to Premier League club Manchester City in 2027, when he turns 18.
