The dining scene in Philadelphia suburbs continues to thrive, with many new restaurants in Montgomery County opening this fallas well as throughout the region, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Peter Martin and chef Biff Gottehrer recently opened Izzy’s Cocktail Bar in Ardmore, a snug Japanese izakaya that focuses primarily on bao bun and rolls.

La Baja in Ambler is a charming BYOB bistro run by James Beard nominee Dionicio Jiménez along with his wife, Mariangeli Alicea Saez. The couple fuses Mexican and European food in a bright storefront.

Mary in Ambler is Chef Chad Rosenthal’s low-lit bar that serves a seven-item menu (including steak tartare, fried shrimp and caviar, and bitter green and pumpkin lasagna) and comp drinks. Rosenthal is no stranger to Ambler, having ran the kitchen in The Lucky Well.

Nepalese-born Hemant Sen Oli opened New Era Indian Cuisine in Plymouth Meeting after achieving success with his Indian restaurant in Chestnut Hill.

Top Pot & Korean BBQ in Willow Grove, a fast-growing chain throughout the Mid-Atlantic, offers delicious hot pot or Korean barbecue.

Finally, The Fort Kitchen & Bar, a pub in Fort Washington, is expected to open its doors soon.
