Chester to Host NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship in 2027 and 2028
Subaru Park in Chester, home of the Philadelphia Union, will host two of the four recently announced NCAA championships that will take place in the Philadelphia region in 2027 and 2028, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Chester will welcome the NCAA DI Women’s Lacrosse Championship both in 2027 and 2028, with Temple University as the designated host.
This is the first time Greater Philadelphia will host the women’s lacrosse championships since 2016.
Other collegiate championship events coming to the region include the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Regional at the Wells Fargo Center in 2027 and the 2027 NCAA DI, DII, and DIII Men’s Lacrosse Championships at Lincoln Financial Field.
Together, the events are expected to draw 175,000 attendees to the region, including student-athletes, athletic staff, and spectators.
According to Larry Needle, executive director of PHL Sports, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau’s sports division, having these four championships awarded to the region is “yet another example of Philadelphia’s standing as a world-class sports destination.”
