John Powers Middleton, son of Phillies owner John Middleton, apologized to his neighbors over the state of his California mansions.

John Powers Middleton, son of Phillies owner and Bryn Mawr resident John Middleton, apologized to his Hollywood Hills neighbors for the state of his two mansions, writes Emily Bloch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

This is the film producer’s first public comment on his California properties, including the one vandalized last month.

Neighbors have been complaining about the seemingly abandoned homes for years with no results. One estate on Mulholland Drive received a “graffiti mansion” moniker after being taken over by squatters and local street artists.

It is not clear whether Middleton ever lived in the Los Angeles home that he bought in 2012. Local magistrates declared the property a nuisance and considered it abandoned over a decade ago.

“What’s happened to the two properties I own is unacceptable,” said Middleton.

He added that his plan is to fix and sell the two properties as soon as possible, even though he has been facing some setbacks.

“I’m disappointed to note that even as I have worked this week to paint over the graffiti, vandals still managed to break in and paint over the newly cleaned walls,” he said.
