On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Immaculata Symphony will perform their fall concert, “A Brahms Compilation,” beginning at 7:30 PM in Immaculata’s Alumnae Hall. The Immaculata Symphony is a university-community organization, with a long and outstanding tradition that goes back to the University’s founding in 1920.

The fall concert opens with the famous snare drum rolls of “The Thieving Magpie Overture,” an operatic masterpiece by Gioachino Rossini filled with catchy and witty melodies. The concert also features Piano Soloist Stephen Campitelli performing Dimitri Shostakovich’s charmingly hectic “Second Piano Concerto.” The highlight of the concert is the magic of Johannes Brahms as the symphony presents a collection of movements from his four symphonies, performed together in a truly unique way.

Music Director Joseph Gehring, M.M., will be conducting the orchestra for this performance. Gehring is the chair of the Immaculata University Music Department and serves as an assistant professor and director of ensembles. Gehring has been involved with the Immaculata Symphony since 2004 and was appointed music director in 2011. In addition to his role with Immaculata, he serves as the music director of the West Chester Band and is a member of the Chesco Pops Orchestra. Gehring frequently directs various honor and festival bands throughout the Pennsylvania and Delaware area.

General admission to the fall concert is $15 and $12 for senior citizens. Tickets are available on the night of the event and online at Immaculata Symphony.
