Many Pennsylvania towns has seen a decrease in population over the last three years. However, some have been an increase, including three Montgomery County towns.

While most municipalities in Pennsylvania have seen their populations drop over the last three years, some have managed to grow, according to census population estimates.

Montgomery County can lay claim to three of the 14 fastest-growing towns in Pennsylvania, writes Chris Ullery for PhillyBurbs.

Worcester Township grew by 7.63 percent between 2020 and 2023, as the population increased from 10,317 residents to 11,104 residents. This was the 7th fastest-growing town in Pennsylvania.

Upper Merion Township saw 6.17 percent growth from 2020 to 2023, as its population grew from 33,613 residents to 35,688 residents. This was the 12th fastest-growing town in Pennsylvania.

Bridgeport Borough grew by 5.88 percent between 2020 and 2023, as its population increased from 5,015 residents to 5,310 residents. This was the 14th fastest-growing town in Pennsylvania.

A December report by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania estimated that most of Pennsylvania’s counties will see their population shrink over the next 30 years and that trend has been shown as 41 of 67 counties saw shrinking residents between 2022 and 2023.

According to census estimates released earlier this year, births outpaced deaths in Pennsylvania last year in some parts of the Commonwealth, and residents moving out of urban areas were two big factors behind the most recent declines.
