Horsham husband-and-wife duo Justin and Sarah Humes turned their honey-making hobby into a business named 4 Brothers Honey.

Horsham husband-and-wife duo Justin and Sarah Humes turned their honey-making hobby into a small business, 4 Brothers Honey, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6abc.

The business is named after the couple’s four sons.

“It used to be 3 Brothers Honey, but then we had a fourth surprise son and we had to change the name to 4 Brothers Honey,” said Justin.

The couple started beekeeping as a family activity. They followed up by selling honey, but now they focus on removing bees that have created nests in people’s homes.

“Our specialty now is bee removals,” said Justin. “We have an Articulating Boom Lift that goes up 65 feet, so we do the really difficult ones.”

The couple refers to their honey production as micro-local.

“We keep bees in different towns and we bottle specifically by where the honey is made,” said Justin.

They produce two versions of honey, the darker summer variant and the lighter spring variety.

“Having the bees on the property has been a really fun thing for our kids,” said Sarah. “Just to kind of understand more about the cycle of nature, what honey bees contribute to our food, how intricate they are as a species.”
