Immaculata University awarded the prestigious 2024-25 Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal to Madison Borkowski, a senior from Elverson. President Barbara Lettiere presented the award to Borkowski during the Mass of the Holy Spirit on Aug. 29.

Sponsored by Kappa Gamma Pi, a national honor society for graduates of Catholic colleges, the Saint Catherine Medal honors a student who exemplifies the values of wisdom, fortitude, and Christian service. The medal is awarded to a student after his/her junior year based on recommendations from university faculty and leadership, who consider the nominees’ scholarship, leadership, and service.

“Being the recipient of the Saint Catherine Medal is an absolute honor,” stated Borkowski. “The Immaculata University values have always aligned with my own, so receiving this recognition means that I have succeeded in keeping those values at the core of everything I do.”

Borkowski is an Education major with dual certification in Pre-K and Special Education and she minors in Pre-Law. A member of the Immaculata Honors Program, she consistently earns dean’s list status every semester. After graduating from Immaculata in December 2024, she plans to attend law school.

In addition to her academic achievements, Borkowski serves as a Firefighter with the Twin Valley Fire Department, where she was named Top Cadet in her class. She also serves on the recruitment and retention committee to attract additional volunteers and plans to continue her service as a Volunteer Firefighter in the future.

Laura Eisemann, Ed.D., Assistant Professor of education, nominated Borkowski for the medal due to her exceptional academic achievements, dedication to service, and strong leadership within the University community.

“Madison has made significant contributions through her involvement in campus organizations and volunteer work, consistently embodying the values of compassion and integrity. Madison’s commitment to excellence and her positive influence on her peers make her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award,” stated Eisemann.
