Laws Vary by States on Posting Salary Ranges for Remote Positions, So Optimize LinkedIn
Job seekers searching for new opportunities are scouring the internet for job postings, including remote positions. Do all remote position postings comply with the laws that vary by jurisdiction?
Are human resource professionals following these laws to ensure their job postings comply? Non-compliance could lead to legal disputes, fines, or reputational damage.
The topic of remote position job postings arose recently with a group of job seekers in the Great Careers Network.
Since I am speaking at the Garden State Council (GSC) SHRM Conference in Atlantic City for the second year, I asked a New Jersey attorney dealing with employment law to weigh in on salary disclosure for remote positions.
He wrote an article addressing the laws on remote positions, which may be ever-changing. His advice was clear: seek guidance from an employment law attorney in your jurisdiction or where you work for specific help. This will provide you with the reassurance and guidance you need.
The laws may note one thing in a particular city or cover an entire state.
The issue of remote job postings is complex and multifaceted. The situation can become even more intricate depending on various factors, such as the employer’s headquarters, the supervisor’s location, the work site, and candidate requests. Some legal language is vague, and some are very specific, so seeking advice from an employment law specialist in your area is crucial for clarification.
