Mt. Joy Set For Band’s Biggest Hometown Show at TD Pavilion at Mann Center
Mt. Joy, an indie rock band started by Conestoga High School graduates Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper, is ready for its biggest hometown show yet, writes Dan DeLuca for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The pair started playing together in high school, but formed the band years later in 2016 while living in Los Angeles.
Their first single Astrovan was a Spotify success. They then sold out a show at Johnny Brenda’s in Fishtown and have continued climbing the music venue ladder since, releasing three albums, the latest being Orange Blood in 2022.
Last summer, they performed at the Skyline Stage at the Mann Center, so returning to the same venue but a larger space with its 13,000 capacity is a new high for the band.
Mt. Joy also drew the attention of Eagles legend Jason Kelce.
“They’re just a fantastic band,” said Kelce, who first saw them at Ardmore Music Hall in 2022.
They have even partnered for a festive version of the band’s signature song, recast as Santa Drives An Astro Van, which will be on the Eagles’ third holiday album, A Philly Special Christmas Party.
