Quakertown-based FMC Logistics, an Amazon delivery partner, is shutting down at the end of October and laying off 121 employees, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The company is ceasing operations on October 29, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry. Delivery drivers and delivery helpers are among the positions being affected. The laid-off workers are not represented by a union.

FMC Logistics’ facility is located around an hour’s drive from Center City and less than half an hour from Allentown.

The company was founded three years ago by two brothers, both former U.S. Marines and Bucks County natives. They took advantage of the Amazon Delivery Service Partner program, which helps entrepreneurs start delivery and logistics businesses by providing them with resources, grants, and other tools. There are currently more than 3,500 Amazon delivery partners across the globe that run a fleet of vans to deliver packages from the e-commerce behemoth directly to its customers.
