Philadelphia Eateries Make Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurants List
Bon Appétit has released its Best New Restaurants of 2024 list and two Philadelphia eateries made the list, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
My Loup in Rittenhouse Square was one of them.
In May 2023, husband-and-wife duo Amanda Shulman and Alex Kemp opened the modern French restaurant.
Bon Appétit contributing editor Amiel Stanek praises Kemp’s Quebecois-influenced style of cooking because of how it perfectly matches Philadelphia’s personality.
“My Loup brings together creative minds, culinary sensibilities, places far away on a map but deeply linked in spirit — and becomes far more than the sum of its parts,” he wrote.
Within months of opening My Loup already received national recognition last year, making it to The New York Times’ list of the 50 restaurants it was “most excited about, and also landed on Esquire‘s list of Best New Restaurants in America list December.
The other Philly restaurant to make it to Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurants list is Meetinghouse.
The bar and restaurant is the brainchild of Keith Shore and Colin McFadden, with a Chef Drew DiTomo-led kitchen.
“This is the Platonic ideal of a neighborhood joint: clear-eyed, hospitable, doing so little to draw attention to itself that it is positively irresistible,” Stanek wrote.
