Archbishop Wood’s Yasin Lowry Starting to Dominate on Ground Once Again After Season-Ending Injury
After overcoming several hurdles, Archbishop Wood running back Yasin Lowry is starting to feel like himself and dominate on the ground once again, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound senior suffered a season-ending knee injury five games into his first season.
“When it first happened, I didn’t know what to think,” said Lowry. “I thought it was bad because knee injuries are probably the worst thing for a football player. I know some players never come back, so I was just scared not knowing what was going to happen.”
Thanks to support from his teammates and coaches along with physical therapy, he was able to return to the field.
Last week, he faced another hurdle when Dave Armstrong, the Central Bucks West legend, decided to step down as head coach.
The unexpected change happened just days before Wood opened Catholic League Blue Division play against Archbishop Carroll. Lowry finished that game with 167 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, leading the team to its first win of the season.
“I think it just shows what type of person I am,” he said.
