Immaculata's Denzell Wallace merges his passion for government and communication in his position at World Trade Center Greater Philadelphia.

Denzell Wallace ’21 successfully combined his passion for government work with his communication skills in his role as Director of Communications and Marketing for the World Trade Center Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP).

Wallace, who began his position in December 2023, is focused on making WTCGP a more accessible and public-facing organization, particularly as Philadelphia gears up for the country’s semiquincentennial in 2026 and aims to host the World Trade Centers Association Conference, which could draw representatives from over 320 WTCs worldwide.

WTCGP’s mission is to stimulate trade and investment opportunities for commercial property developers, economic development agencies, and businesses seeking global connections. Wallace has already made significant strides, notably through the Selling to the World program, which helps minority-owned and women-led enterprises gain the knowledge needed to export products overseas via expanded job training access.

“We have been shifting our focus to revitalize not just Center City but all of the neighborhoods, including Strawberry Mansion, Kensington, and Nicetown,” Wallace stated. “As an educational nonprofit, WTCGP is dedicated to teaching and sharing knowledge with these communities.”

Wallace credits his success to the diverse leadership opportunities he encountered at Immaculata University. As a student, he served as a Resident Assistant, New Student Orientation Leader, Vice President of Delta Pi, and a member of the men’s track and field team and the Esports team. He also volunteered with Campus Ministry to tutor students at local schools.

His well-rounded education, with a double major in Political Science and Communication and a minor in Public Relations and Journalism, prepared him for a thriving career in communications. For example, he became certified in Google Analytics for a class and took a grant writing course that led directly to an internship at a local nonprofit as a grant writer. He then began interning as a Communications Lead and Legislative Assistant for Pennsylvania State Representative Donna Bullock in the spring of 2018, which led to a part-time job that he held for two years. This position paved the way to his current job. Rep. Bullock’s chief of staff became president and CEO of WTCGP and asked Wallace to join him as the communications director.

“I left IU being a jack-of-all-trades because of the robust curriculum,” Wallace stated. “Having a frame of reference from a class I took has aided me tremendously.”

For Wallace, the Immaculata community is truly his family. While a student at the University, he lost both parents. Amidst this sorrow, he joyously welcomed a baby daughter into his life during his senior year.

“The support I received during my four years at Immaculata is unforgettable,” Wallace stated. “IU really shaped me in my formative years and positioned me to be the leader I am today.”
