Tony Laguda Formal Wear in Ambler Celebrating 50th Anniversary

Tony Laguda Formal Wear in Ambler which serves the Montgomery County community for weddings, proms, and more celebrates 50th anniversary.

Tony Laguda Formal Wear, the family-owned business in Ambler, celebrated its 50th anniversary last week, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

The business was started by Caterina Laguda and her late husband, Tony, who immigrated to the United States over half a century ago. Tony was a masterful tailor, so the couple decided to open a formal wear store.

“We did have a dream,” said Caterina. “Me and my husband. A lot of dream, a lot of heart. I’m pretty sure he would be proud of us.”

When they opened their store, the pair put a little bell on the door that is still there to this day.

“From that point on, the door kept ringing, day in, day out,” she said.

Today, Caterina and her sons continue to run the business that serves the Montgomery County community for formal events, such as weddings, proms, and more.

Caterina stresses that the best way to operate is with love and with a smile.

On July 5, the family invited their friends, customers, and owners of other local businesses to celebrate the occasion at the store that included coffee, cake, and a selection of traditional Italian desserts.
