King of Prussia is now home to PetMedic, a new urgent care center for pets which is aiming to fill the veterinary void in the area, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

PetMedic recently opened its first site in Pennsylvania next to the King of Prussia Mall. The urgent care facility offers care for pets who need quick medical attention for non-life-threatening issues.

“Our goal is to complete the circle of vet care for our patients and bridge the gap between the emergency room and general practitioner,” said Melanie Wiener, practice manager for the new location. “We’re filling a void.”

PetMedic can handle a number of non-emergent issues, including wounds, infections, allergies and allergic reactions, and constipation, as well as decreased appetite and lethargy.

The new 3,100-square-foot site features a modern surgical suite, and advanced laboratory, digital X-ray, and ultrasound capabilities. It is open seven days a week. The location is staffed by two veterinarians, Drs. Gina Graziano and Chris Schumacher, along with ten veterinary technicians.

Walk-ins are accepted, as well as same-day and next-day appointments.

PetMedic launched last month and has already seen around 100 pets.
