The Hotel Indigo brand, coming to West Chester, will feature art and historical tidbits from the town.

Hotel Indigo in West Chester, part of the “luxury collection” owned by InterContinental Hotels Group, will showcase the town’s history and art once it is completed, writes Victoria Rose for Main Line Tonight

The 108-room hotel will have features for both visitors and locals, including a seafood restaurant with a raw bar, 1,100 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

The design of the hotel’s lobby was inspired by local clockmaking history, and each room will feature custom touches.

“There are so many hidden nuggets throughout the public spaces and guest rooms for guests to find,” said Christopher Berg, VP of Operations for Onix Hospitality. “Almost every design element has some reference to ‘local’ and is intended to be a conversation starter.”

Various artwork will be displayed throughout the hotel, including portraits of Frederick Douglass, the abolitionist and human rights champion whose last public speech was at West Chester University in 1895.

Historic images, quotes from local writers, and historical documents will be on the guest rooms’ walls. The golden ram will also make an appearance on closet door handles.

“From the ground to the sixth floor, everything is designed,” said Berg.
