The Center City penthouse that former Philadelphia Phillies star Pat Burrell previously owned has been sold to a local Philadelphia couple for $2.65 million.

It sold for about 38 percent less than the original asking price of nearly $4.3 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The recent sale brings an end to a nearly two-year effort to sell the property. It originally went on the market for $4.299 million in March 2022 and has been on and off the market multiple times at different price points ever since. 

Kristen Foote, listing agent and broker with Compass RE, detailed that part of the difficulty in finding a buyer for the condo was that it can “show like a bachelor pad.”

Burrell, himself, custom designed the three-bedroom, four-bathroom condo. It spans over 4,500 square feet, including the entire 17th floor. The primary bedroom is situated on the 18th floor and can be accessed via a glass staircase.

Burrell purchased the home in 2005 shortly after it was converted into what it is today. He and other Phillies players celebrated the Phillies’ 2008 World Series win at the penthouse.

“It really took somebody with a vision to see the potential that this unit has,” Foote said of the buyers.
