Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) is seeking applications for a Part-Time ACT 101 Student Success Coach and two Part-Time Student Services Assistants.
Part-Time ACT 101 Student Success Coach
The Part-Time ACT 101 Student Success Coach will support students’ retention and progression to graduation with the following duties:
- Provide transfer information.
- Provide individualized student outreach to at-risk students.
- Connect students to relevant campus and community resources.
- Provide academic and transfer coaching and support for students on an ongoing basis.
- Monitor and track the progress of students.
- Maintain communication with faculty and staff in support of students.
Essential Requirements, Skills, and Knowledge
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or another related field with two years of experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of retention and persistence of at-risk students and providing at-risk learner support.
- Proven technology skills, including using technology in program delivery.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as under-resourced groups and first-generation students.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.
The position requires 25 hours per week, and the candidate must be available to work day, evening, and weekend
hours. This is a temporary grant-paid position and is contingent upon grant funding. This year’s grant award ends Jun. 30, 2024, and the next grant cycle runs from Jul. 7, 2024-Jun. 30 2025.
The Part-Time ACT 101 Student Success Coach has college-wide responsibilities and will travel between all campuses and off-site locations. This position will primarily be at the Blue Bell Campus. This position requires the PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
Part-Time Student Services Assistant
The Part-time Student Services Assistant, for which there are two open positions, will provide support to both new and returning students at the College as part of the College’s mission of access, retention, and completion. This position both includes in-person and back-office duties. Service touchpoints will include the use of the following methods: in person, phone, email, text; online, chat Starfish, Zoom, and other Self-Service systems to support student success. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service by doing the following:
- Support the Student Services Resource Center.
- Perform duties at the Student Services Welcome Desk.
- Support the Enrollment Services Assistants.
- Provide support in the Testing Center.
Essential Requirements, Skills, and Knowledge
- High school diploma or GED with three years of work-related experience or an associate’s degree with one to two years of work-related experience.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Excellent communication, both written and oral.
- Specialized training in specific software or processes.
- Customer-service skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to use some discretion and judgment.
- Ability to work within a team-oriented setting.
Hours and days for this role include the following:
Position One: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-1:00 PM, and Saturdays as needed.
Position Two: Monday through Thursday: 2-7:00 PM, Friday 12-5:00 PM, and Saturdays, as needed.
These positions are 25 hours per week. During peak times, employees may work up to 29 hours. This position has college-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and offsite locations. The primary office location will be the Blue Bell campus.
