Michael Laign has been the CEO of Redeemer Health since 1993. His three-decade-plus tenure makes him the longest-tenured CEO of a Philadelphia-area health system. He is retiring July 15.

Michael B. Laign, the longtime CEO of Montgomery County-based health system Redeemer Health, is retiring next month, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Laign is the region’s longest-tenured health system CEO, having led Redeemer Health since 1993.

After Laign steps down effective July 15, Gregory T. Wozniak will take over as CEO.

Laign will, however, continue to serve in an advisory role during the transition period.

“Without a doubt, Mike is one of the most visionary leaders in our industry,” said William Sasso, chairman of the Redeemer Health Board of Trustees, in a statement. “He has guided Redeemer Health with an unrelenting commitment to its mission and a continuous focus on growth and innovation.”

Wozniak’s previous roles include chief executive at a local Catholic health system, CEO of St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, and most recently, CEO of Philadelphia-area healthcare consulting firm, Denali Health.

Headquartered in Huntingdon Valley, Redeemer Health serves communities in southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Once Laign retires from his CEO role, the title of longest-tenure CEO at a Philadelphia-area health system will belong to Main Line Health executive leader, Jack Lynch.
