Merrymead Farm in Lansdale is one of more than 4,000 dairy farms throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania is filled with plenty of options for people who want to get their cheese, ice cream, or milk directly from a farm, writes Alexandra Jones for The Philadelphia Inquirer

With 4,940 dairy farms, Pennsylvania has more of them than any other state except for Wisconsin, according to the Center for Dairy Excellence.

One is located in Montgomery County; that being Merrymead Farm.

The fifth-generation dairy farm’s products include milk, ice cream, baked goods, local groceries, and preorder ice cream cakes.

City dwellers are most likely to recognize the Merrymead label from its milk, which it sells to independent grocers and food co-ops around the region.

Their Montco farm, however, has also become a hub for local foods.

The onsite store in Lansdale features products from both nearby producers and Merrymead’s own bottled milks.

There are also a myriad of ice cream counter offers, with options like whiskey, lemon cookie, banana peanut butter chip, as well as some other classics.

Customers are encouraged to stop by during the afternoon for a peek into the milking parlor window to see how it all starts.
