How to Help Save Chester County’s Treetops Kitty Cafe and Rescue from Closing
Treetops Kitty Cafe in Kennett Square is reaching out to the community to help keep their doors open, writes Sheila Watko and Cherise Lynch for NBC 10 Philadelphia.
The Chester County nonprofit’s mission is to rescue “misfit” cats – seniors, those with disabilities and medical needs, and those otherwise unwanted.
Since its opening in 2017, Treetops has operated as both a cat cafe and a rescue, saving over 850 cats. Now, they need help.
Between rising costs of supplies, recent unexpected medical bills, and a slowdown in donations, the rescue is financially struggling.
“We are closer to closing our doors than we ever have been before.” Founder Hannah April posted on the Treetops Kitty Cafe Instagram. “Treetops Kitty Cafe is not just a cat cafe. We are a rescue, first and foremost. We are dedicated to saving senior cats from shelter cages and rescuing shy and misunderstood cats from euthanasia. Our work is not done, and we have big plans to our future, but we need your help.”
The cafe also features some events, such as their new “Move Night with Cats” to help with donations.
For those compelled to donate or visit the cafe, all donation and event information can be found on their Instagram.
