The family of teen Abbey Wolf who tragically died by suicide is keeping her legacy alive through Abbey’s Bakery nonprofit, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

“Abbey was 14 years old,” said Abbey’s mother, Michelle Wolf. “She was kind, loving, athletic, creative, and Abbey loved the beach.”

Abbey died on Nov. 7, 2020.

“She left a note, and it basically said it was waves of ocean crashing down on her and she couldn’t breathe,” said her mother.

Soon after her death, the family realized they needed to tell her story and help others. They decided to incorporate her love of baking with mental health and suicide prevention and created Abbey’s Bakery.

“Abbey’s Bakery is not an actual bakery but it’s a nonprofit that raises awareness for mental health and suicide prevention,” said Michelle. “We go to events, we tell Abbey’s story, we encourage conversation through our mason jars.”

Abbey’s Bakery also sponsors the Hope Squad at Sandy Run Middle School, which Abbey attended along with her two siblings. The club promotes conversations about mental health and helps students learn how to support one another.
