Startup Run By Lower Merion Native Helps Hollywood Studios Improve Efficiency of Their Sets
RABS, a startup run by Lower Merion native Josh Weinberg, is helping movie and television sets run more efficiently, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Since it launched in 2018, RABS — short for Run a Better Set — has managed to land deals with “every single major studio,” said Weinberg, including Netflix, NBCUniversal, and Disney.
The technology the company developed offers assistant directors and production assistants a way to better track, pay, onboard, and manage background talent. RABS currently has more deals in the works as it is working on widening the breadth of the technology and making it the industry standard.
RABS was used on many award-winning shows and productions, including Adam Sandler’s Netflix film Hustle and HBO’s hit limited series Mare of Easttown.
Weinberg, a Lower Merion High School graduate, said the startup is poised for major growth in 2024, primarily through the expansion of its services.
“The growth trajectory is within our existing markets, continu[ing] to push and to develop imaginative, technical solutions for them so we can serve more of their shows and more niche segments within each of their shows,” he said.
