Buying a home in Montgomery County is more expensive than in the majority of the rest of the nation, according to a new report from the National Association of Realtors.

The National Association of Realtors compiled the list of County Median Home Prices by integrating the House Price Index growth data from the Federal Housing Finance Agency with the latest housing statistics derived from the American Community Survey.

According to the report, the median home price in Montgomery County currently stands at $430,230, which puts it in the top 12 percent nationwide.

However, that price is still significantly lower than San Mateo County, California, which took the top spot on the list with its median home price of $1,575,350. However according to the report, the most affordable county in the nation is Stonewall County, Texas, with a median home price of just $56,440.

Meanwhile, the monthly mortgage payment in Montgomery County went up from $2,400 last year to $2,650. This increase is mostly due to higher mortgage rates.
