The Delaware Valley University Board of Trustees has appointed new officers and members. Effective May 3, Andrew Dougherty ’00 is serving as Chairperson; Hakim Richard Savoy ’90 as Vice Chairperson; Jimmy Cheek, Ph.D. as secretary; and Joy Levy as Treasurer.

The Board is also pleased to welcome five recently elected Trustees, including Francie Babik ’10, MBA ’14, Ken Lipton ’61, Cam Maio, and Amy Leenhouts Tait. Celina Burgueno ’16 has also been elected to serve as the new Alumni Trustee.

Francie Babik ’10, MBA ’14

Babik served as the Alumni Trustee from February 2022 until her recent election as a Trustee. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and her MBA from DelVal. Babik has many years of experience in human resources leadership and is currently the SVP, Human Resources at Syncromune, Inc. Babik is a member of both the Bucks County Senior HR Leader Roundtable and the Society for Human Resources Management. She previously served on DelVal’s Alumni Council for six years, during which time she served on the Annual Giving and Fundraising Committee; the Budget, Finance and Investment Committee; and the Development and Long-Range Planning Committee.

Ken Lipton ’61

Lipton earned his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from DelVal and was named an Emeritus Trustee of the University in 2004, having previously served on the Board of Trustees from 1996-2003, including a term as Board Chair. Lipton began his career in the pharmaceutical industry working in research, sales management, and marketing. Later, Lipton founded K.I. Lipton, Inc., an advertising and marketing communications company specializing in the pharmaceutical industry. After retirement, Lipton owned and operated Cimarron Ridge Ranch, a cattle and horse ranch in Colorado, during which time his civic involvement spanned several organizations advancing local and state agriculture and conservation interests, including service on the Colorado State Conservation Board.

Cam Maio

Maio has been the Senior Marketing Leader at NJM Insurance Group (NJM) since 2014 and is currently Vice President of Marketing. In his position, he is responsible for the management of NJM’s acquisition efforts for all its lines of business and serves on the corporate giving board and strategic planning committee. Prior to joining NJM, Maio worked as the Director of Strategic Marketing for the Plymouth Rock Companies. Maio earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing and International Business from Loyola University, where he studied abroad at the Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven in Belgium. He also carries a CMO certificate from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Maio currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia.

Amy Leenhouts Tait

Leenhouts Tait earned her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and her MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School. After beginning her career in management training and commercial real estate lending, she moved into real estate investment and development, serving first as Executive Vice President of Home Leasing Corp. and then co-founding Broadstone Real Estate, a firm specializing in commercial property acquisitions, management, and asset management throughout the U.S. and Canada. Leenhouts Tait led Broadstone Real Estate for fourteen years until the IPO of the Broadstone Net Lease real estate investment trust (BNL) in 2020. She was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame in 2016 and has extensive board experience, including service on both the University of Rochester and the Allendale Columbia School Board of Trustees.

Celina Burgueno ’16

Burgueno earned her bachelor’s degree in Zoo Science, with a minor in English, from DelVal. Since her freshman year, she has been an active member of the Alumni Council, initially serving as a Student Liaison and later as a Representative and Chair of the Council’s Nominating and Membership Committee. As the Alumni Trustee, Burgueno serves as a liaison between the Board and the Alumni Council, representing all alumni. Her commitment to DelVal has been acknowledged through the prestigious Founders’ Award during her student years and the Patricia C. Hilton Volunteer of the Year Award post-graduation. Burgueno is currently pursuing her MFA in theater education and applied theater at Emerson College and works as a Zookeeper at Zoo New England. Previously, she was an Interpretive Specialist at the Houston Zoo in Texas.
