Cheltenham High School’s Corey Bradley is a senior on the baseball team and one of the best wrestlers in school history, writes Mike Sielski for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He was still mourning his mother, Elizabeth, when he took to the field in the May 6 game against Upper Moreland.

His mother was killed on April 10 inside her home in Springfield Township. Her husband, Kenneth Shea, was arrested for her murder. Bradley, his two brothers, and his father, Paul, were all in shock when they received the tragic news.

Bradley wanted to play in the important game for his team to honor his mom. In the back pocket of his pants, was a bracelet she gave him. It helped him concentrate and make the first point for his team in the game.

He is still heartbroken. He knows it will take him a long time to recover from the tragic event, but he is doing his best.

“I’m taking it better than a lot of people would,” he said. “That’s what my mom would want. She wouldn’t want us to go off the rails and lose our sense of direction.”
