Salus University Sponsors Two SEPCHE Events
Salus University sponsored two recent events for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education (SEPCHE).
The first was the SEPCHE Honors Conference on Mar. 23 at the Hafter Student Community Center on the University’s Elkins Park campus. The conference allowed undergraduate students to present scholarship in a setting beyond the classroom and individual college or university. It provided an opportunity to share academic excellence, foster interdisciplinary learning, and celebrate challenging academic programs.
Participants included most SEPCHE members. In addition to Salus, other members of the consortium are Arcadia University, Cabrini University, Chestnut Hill College, Holy Family University, Manor College, Neumann University, and Rosemont College.
The second event, “Civic Engagement in 2024: A Conversation with SEPCHE Presidents,” was held on Apr. 5 at Chestnut Hill College in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Political Science Association’s (PPSA) 85th Anniversary annual meeting.
Founded in 1939, the PPSA is the nation’s oldest state political science association. Its mission is to promote scholarship, research, and the exchange of ideas within Pennsylvania.
Chris Satullo, Principal at Keystone Ventures LLC, a consulting firm in media, civic engagement, and executive coaching, moderated a discussion among SEPCHE member leaders, including Salus President Michael H. Mittelman, OD ‘80, MPH, MBA, FAAO, FACHE, USN RADM (Ret.); Bill Latimer, PhD, MPH, Chestnut Hill College President; Jon Peri, PhD, JD, Manor College President; and Jim Cawley, JD, Rosemont College President.
Formed in 1993, SEPCHE is a consortium of independent colleges and universities in the southeastern Pennsylvania region (Greater Philadelphia) that engage in a collaborative approach to the challenges of higher education and work together to promote quality and efficiency of academic programming, student access, faculty development, institutional operations, and community outreach, through sharing a range of activities, services, technology, and information.
