Salus University’s Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) program has been granted initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), effective Mar. 15, 2024.

According to Program Director J. Chad Duncan, PhD, CRC, CPO, LPO, the initial accreditation is only awarded to those programs that have successfully demonstrated compliance with rigorous standards, ensuring the best possible educational experience for students.

“This initial accreditation is a testament to our program’s steadfast commitment to excellence and adherence to the highest educational standards,” said Dr. Duncan. “This reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty, students, and administrative staff. Let us take a moment to celebrate this remarkable achievement and continue our commitment to providing exceptional education and training in the allied health professions.”

The next comprehensive evaluation of the program is scheduled for no later than 2029. In the meantime, the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) will perform annual reviews to monitor the program’s compliance with these standards, as well as to evaluate the outcomes based on annual reports and supporting documents.

The University’s O&P program received its official launch on Aug. 15, 2022. It is only the 14th O&P program nationwide.
