You’ll Need a $200,000 Salary to Afford These Montgomery County Homes
There are nine ZIP codes in the Philadelphia metro area where it is necessary to earn a minimum of $200,000 to afford a median-priced home, and four of them are in Montgomery County, write Joanne Drilling and Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The two most expensive ZIP codes in the region are Gladwyne (19035) and Villanova (19085). As of November, both towns have a median home value of more than $1 million.
Home buyers in Gladwyne need to make at least $314,400 annually to be able to afford a median-priced home, while that number in Villanova is $307,100.
Gladwyne and Villanova are also the only two ZIP codes that require an annual income of over $300,000 to afford a median-priced home.
In Gwynedd Valley (19437), which is fourth on the list, a buyer would need to earn a salary of $226,632 to afford a home.
Merion Station (19066) also made the list in seventh place with an income requirement of $219,961.
