ETHOS Treatment LLC, a leading provider of care for individuals and families who struggle with substance use disorder and/or mental health issues, is expanding its programs to include services for adolescent patients at its Reading-area location in Wyomissing.

“There is a pressing need for specialized care tailored for individuals aged 13-18,” said Dan Appel, the clinician who will lead this program. “Treating adolescents has become more complicated over the last 10-20 years in part due to technology, social media, and other social pressures, but the good news is it has also become much more socially acceptable to seek treatment.”

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at ETHOS will offer weekly groups of 10 individuals. This small-group setting ensures a supportive environment where adolescents can engage meaningfully with their peers and receive the attention they deserve from experienced therapists.

“Research shows the importance of downregulating the nervous system, and we work to give adolescents the tools to achieve this,” said ETHOS Treatment co-founder Michael Blanche. “There has always been a need for this population, and until now, there have not been enough resources in Berks County.”

The IOP for adolescents at ETHOS offers an array of services tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs. The program includes thorough assessments, individual and small group therapy sessions, and family therapy, recognizing the importance of family support and involvement in the recovery process.

“Our unique IOP approach helps clients overcome obstacles and ensures they benefit from needed structure, stability, consistency, and accountability,” said Blanche.

ETHOS also coordinates closely with schools and school-mandated substance use treatment programs and provides psychiatric assessments.

“Our patients have school and family obligations, so outpatient therapy enables them to meet the demands of normal life and apply the skills they learn in real-world settings,” said Appel. “This can be a life-changing experience, as we aim to blunt issues before individuals reach adulthood, bringing happiness into our patients’ lives.”

Currently, there is no waitlist for adolescents throughout the ETHOS Treatment system. Call 267-669-0300 or learn more about ETHOS Treatment.
